Zimbabwe hosted its first Test match against India from October 18 to October 22, 1992, at the Harare Sports Club. Zimbabwe became the ninth nation to play Test cricket with this inaugural match. The match result was a draw.
Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first and scored 456 runs. Captain Dave Houghton hit 121 and made the first Test century for Zimbabwe in this series. Andy Flower hit 59 runs, while Grant Flower made 82.
India managed to add 307 runs due to Kapil Dev’s 60 and Sanjay Manjrekar’s 104. John Traicos came back to Test cricket after a break of 22 years and exhibited his performance by taking 5 wickets for 86 runs.
1998 – India won coca cola champions trophy
On November 6–13, 1998, India and Zimbabwe faced each other in the triangular Coca Cola Champions Trophy One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament. It was hosted in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Indian, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lankan national teams participated in the competition; India won by beating Zimbabwe in the final match.
