The stadium has world-class infrastructure and floodlights were installed before the World Cup quarter final in 1996. It has proved a lucky stadium for the visiting teams, such as South Africa, Australia, and Pakistan, because they have won many matches here. The most memorable moments of the matches played in this stadium are the South African historic win in 2000, Michael Clarke’s century in his debut, Inzamam’s century in the 100th test match, and Anil Kumble’s 400th Wicket in a test series.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has a capacity for 40,000 spectators. There are 2 bowling ends in the stadium – Pavilion end, BEML end. In 2008, a wall was built with 10,000 bricks for the honour of 10,000 runs in Test matches in ODIs made by Rahul Dravid. This wall was inaugurated by Sachin Tendulkar. There is a large metal cut of Rahul Dravid. It is the very first cricket stadium across the globe where solar panels are used to generate electricity.
